Baby and Me Yoga Circle
Coming Fall 2021!
Postpartum can be an amazing time, getting to know your baby and your new role as a mother. It can also be a hugely challenging time with lack of sleep, changing hormones, a healing body, a new identity and the sometimes isolated feeling that can come with being at home with a new baby. The intention of this class is to be a space where new moms can move their bodies, connect to themselves and to other mothers in the community. Research has shown that both movement and connection to others can help with depression.
The first 45 minutes of class will be dedicated to yoga poses focusing on both stretching and strengthening areas of our body that tend to be most affected in the time post birth. Breathing exercises will also be taught that can help with anxiety. The last 30 minutes of class will be a time to socialize with other new moms. Tea will be provided. All levels of experience welcome. Babies 6 weeks to pre-crawling.
It feels so good to move our bodies! This class is open to all. Whether you have a regular yoga practice, used to practice but haven't for a while or are brand new and looking for a new challenge.
We will mindfully flow through poses that focus on strength as well as flexibility. A more dynamic class, student’s also will me met where they are at and given to make the practice more accessible or more challenging depending your individual needs.
A private yoga session can be helpful if you are working with a specific issue that you would like to address in more depth. This could be working on a certain pose, navigating an injury, or perhaps increasing mobility or strength in a specific area of your body. It is also a great time to ask questions that there may not be time to go over in group classes. A one to one class can also be a good way to start your yoga practice again after a break or to learn more about postpartum strategies when returning to yoga after having a baby.
Classes can be held at your home or at another location. (Classes at other locations, such as the HUB may incur a surcharge for room rental fee.) Online ZOOM classes are also an option.
If you would like to organize a small group session with your friends, the private yoga fee of $75 can be split between up to 3 people.
